Air curtain dust-collecting technology: Investigation of factors affecting dust control performance of air curtains in the developed transshipment system for soybean clearance based on numerical simulation

Transshipment of compacted soybean is characterized by labor-intensive processes, long operating times, and a great amount dust that cannot be collected sealed devices. This significantly reduces air quality the workshop represents threat to human health. Solving this problem has been challenge in storage industry. For reason, present study concept transshipment system for clearance was proposed. can simultaneously achieve real-time falling materials curtain control fugitive dust. The main factors influencing performance were investigated using numerical simulation, effects exhaust-to-pressure ratio K outlet velocity V on efficiency determined. Results showed width dust-collecting paths increased with increasing values. We also found out dust-escape mainly concentrated transition height between complete curtains local curtains. At beginning process, rapidly increment rate became slower as increased. When = 1.5 5–6 m/s, reached values up 95.54–96.27%. Based simulation results, prototype developed, effectiveness validated via smoke tracing experiments. After application developed system, occupational lung disease reduced, per enhanced approximately 67% (about 50,113? saved terms energy consumption labor resources). An extra granary after newly 36.5–52.1 clearances.
